On a Hot Summer's Day
On a hot summer's day
As the morning tide made its say
I stepped into my den,
Deep inside the cavern
I knew my way
For I'd not thought too long
And a moment spared
Was worth the chance!
I slept there last night, and the one before
And every other one from the time i lodged in;
It smells of cologne and the
Green towel hangs where it was left
My name's scrawled on many of those books
And the water-bottle beside them is empty
Slippers sleep on the floor, buckets lie in a corner
And the clothes flow down the chair
I am everything i want to be and nothing at all,
Whorls of air blow my fatigue away
There's good music and high spirits
And a mattress stuffed with soft cotton
There's a smile in my eye n' faith in my breath
And an angel lulls me to sleep as i mark my thoughts.
